Ironberry Wines
Ironberry was founded on the premise of producing wines of incredible value from premium West Australian fruit. These are wines that exhibit fresh, fruit-driven character, at a very affordable price – ideal for picnics, barbeques and parties of any kind! The current release is a vibrant Cabernet Merlot Shiraz blend.
The wines have been sealed with screw-cap closure to ensure a reliable product (free of cork taint), every time.
Fruit Source
Ironberry was kicked off as a brand with the 2003 vintage. At this time there was abundant supply of quality red fruit from renowned wine region, Margaret River, so the decision was made to release a regional-specific brand (single appellation). With future releases it became necessary to look outside the region in order to maintain the same fantastic value for money. Today, parcels of fruit are also sourced from around the state, to complement the specific vintage offering.
The
Winemaker
Chief Winemaker, Gavin Berry, heads the team at West Cape Howe Winery that is responsible for producing the Ironberry wines (under contract). Highly regarded internationally for making world class wines, he joined the team in mid 2004, following a successful 16 year career as CEO for Plantagenet Wines in Mt Barker, Western Australia. Gavin is assisted by experienced Senior Winemaker, Dave Cleary.
The team takes an active role in year-round vineyard practices and harvest decisions to ensure optimum fruit quality for the Ironberry wines. Modern winery techniques are applied to achieve wines of superb value.
