The Origins of Ponga
...

The iconic Silver Fern of New Zealand is called “Ponga” by the country’s indigenous Maori people. The fern’s silvery-white fronds exude a freshness and vibrancy that characterize this country’s beautiful and diverse landscape.

The Wines

Ponga comes from select vineyards in Marlborough, New Zealand’s most celebrated wine region. The free-draining, alluvial loams over gravelly subsoils provide ideal growing conditions and together with abundant sunshine, cool nights and a long growing season, help build and maintain the vibrant and zesty fruit flavors for which Marlborough’s Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir are world famous. These wines are bright, contemporary, fruit-driven styles, offering exceptional value for moneyPonga.

The Producer

Ponga wines are produced by the Scott Family Group, a family owned and operated winery located right in the heart of Blenheim’s wine growing region in Marlborough. The Group was founded in 1990 although the family’s history in winegrowing began in 1975 when they planted their first vineyard as contract growers.

The Scott Family Group is a truly family business – with Josh Scott as winemaker and sister Sara, with a Winemaking and Viticultural diploma and local and international winemaking experience, taking up the position of viticulturist. Victoria Scott is involved with public relations and the promotion of the Marlborough region as a whole.

As the Marlborough region has gained a well deserved reputation as a wine haven, the Scott Family Group has developed its own reputation as a Marlborough icon and a sound name for outstanding New Zealand wines. Quality and absolute dedication to achieving the best is the key to their success. The company prides itself on viticultural excellence, extending through to the finished product.

This is reflected in the Ponga range.
